'A DARK REFLECTION' - (2014)
Format: 35mm (Fujifilm) / DCP
Director: Tristan Loraine
Production Company: Fact Not Fiction Films
A journalist digs deep into the world of aviation and discovers some uncomfortable truths, and a conspiracy trail dating back to 1954. But why is no one saying anything?
'A Dark Reflection' was shot over a twelve week period in the United Kingdom with additional photography in Jordan. The production presented many logistical challenges, including the shooting of complex aerial sequences in the South-East of England, and filming on a recently decommisioned Boeing 737.
Originated on Fujifilm Eterna 250D, Fujifilm Eterna 500T and Fujifilm Vivid 160T, the production was shot spherically - predominantly in 35mm 2-perf Techniscope with Zeiss Super Speed lenses. High-speed sequences were captured in 3-perf and aerial photography in 4-perf for a final aspect ratio of 2:39:1.
Colourist Toby Tomkins (Cheat) graded the film from uncompressed 2K files provided by iDailies (London), who also provided film processing for the production.
'A Dark Reflection' held its worldwide premiere on Thursday 15th May at the 2014 Cannes Du Marche.
"A Dark Reflection is a provocative and well-researched drama raising alarming and urgent questions for the aviation industry and authorities."
Heather Mills - PRIVATE EYE
"It’s got the lot. A film that has suspense, drama, action, intrepid journalism, and perhaps most importantly–a cause. A Dark Reflection shines a light on aviation’s dirty secret: the quality of the air we breathe on board planes. It’s an important step in the decades long challenge to Big Oil and Big Aviation."
Ted Jeory - SUNDAY EXPRESS
“A Dark Reflection is a gripping thriller based on the true-life scandal of a major toxic air health problem widespread on modern passenger jets. The most confronting thing about this extraordinary film is that it’s all true.”
Ross Coulthart - SUNDAY NIGHT CHANNEL 7
